Chinese version of UNESCO "Futures of Education" report released
A ceremony was jointly held by UNESCO, the Secretariat of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, and the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences in Beijing on Sept. 6, to launch the Chinese version of the report on UNESCO’s “Future of Education” initiative.
Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun and Ms. Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director-General for Education of UNESCO, both delivered speeches via video conference.
Tian conveyed President Xi’s appreciation for UNESCO’s leading role in transforming education and the Chinese government’s commitment to education as a strategic priority. He said that the “Future of Education” report has brought together the collective wisdom of global stakeholders to inform the future development of education. He urged education researchers and policy makers to act in accordance with the recommendations of the report to enable the development of a modernized educational system in China.
Giannini said the “Future of Education” report has provided an important reference for the upcoming Transforming Education Summit to be held in New York, and the release of the Chinese version is timely. According to her, China’s commitment to green education and cultural exchange through education echoes findings in the report and she praised the digitalization of education in the country as a remarkable achievement.
